Vermont Custom Builders of Barns & Homes

The Sugarhouse, still a favorite due to its place in Vermont's rural past, is graced by a non-functioning vent hood to give an authentic look. The simple and compact one room studio features a 6' patio door and a fixed picture window on the gable end.

The Sugarhouse and Vermont Barn lend themselves well to functioning as finished off living areas as does the second floor of the barns. Completed to your specifications, each serves as a studio for hobbies and business, guest quarters, or private retreats.

The upstairs of this new barn addition is open, bright and a perfect location for an artist's studio. Windows line the work counter and a pyramid of glass cover the gable end for light and views. Pine boards on the ceiling and trim give warmth to the space. A connector allows access through a hall walkway with built-in bookcases and cubbies for more storage. The work table can be stored out of the way next to the extra deep cherry cabinetry when not in use. Special rubber flooring was rolled out for comfort and durability. Constructed near a wonderful old brick farmhouse, this bank barn has many faces and many uses. Upstairs, one large room with picture windows is a dedicated space for Miranda to indulge her spinning and soap making hobbies. Adjacent to this insulated studio is the gardening and potting area with barn doors just steps away from the organic garden. The lower level with large sliders is filled with equipment and storage and was designed for future animal housing.

Bert and Gail Barn Studio Ludlow Post & Beam
This dramatic post-and-beam addition features planed and chamfered oiled beams with traditional mortise and tenon joints. Hi-R foam panels envelope the structure exposing the full timbers. Bert and Gail eagerly await completion so they may fill the space with large weaving looms and tasteful furnishings.

Warm wood bathed in light from three large picture windows creates a most comfortable live-in studio for Tom and Liz. This ample 20'x24' space enhanced with a cathedral ceiling gives both artists plenty of room to perfect their crafts of glassblowing and ceramics.
