Vermont Custom Builders of Barns & Homes

When people form visions of Vermont, they picture meadows, cows, the Green Mountains-and our Vermont Barns and Sugarhouses. With sliding doors capped with a row of lites or transom and understated, windowless, vertical siding running the full length, our version a Vermont Barn can bring your vision to life. Early settlers brought over the design from England, and over the centuries the barn underwent few changes. Almost always freestanding, and usually larger than the home it accompanies, this barn in its unfettered simplicity remains a traditional favorite.

East Bridgewater Sugarhouse East Bridgewater
A large opening steam vent sits atop this gem of a Sugarhouse. A wall dormer juts out from the eave wall giving dimension to the structure. It also offers easier entry through the handmade double doors without the snow which will surely slide off the standing seam roof. A cedar porch on the opposite side overlooking the ponds and views creates the private respite that Michael had envisioned. Four lite barn sashes are angled to fit the 12/12 pitch and a large sliding barn door will simplify bringing in all of the sugaring equipment. Summer View

Custom Dutch doors were built to enter the stalls from outdoors in this 24' x 36' horse barn. Water hauling was simplified by plumbing a frost-proof hydrant inside the barn and a center hall drive-through with large doors cut through the center for easy access. Eileen was excited about having her horses a stones throw from the house as well as the much needed space for the hay, feed and tack that accompanies the horses.
